Phantom Effects Special Effects Make-up Technicians was founded in 1997 by Aaron Peerless who was professionally trained in special effects make-up in Toronto under Randy Daudlin at Illusions Unlimited Inc. After starting Phantom Effects Aaron worked on several movies and TV shows including Lexx and Phase IV.
In 2013 Aaron teamed up with his partner Jaimie Peerless, who quickly became a professional force to be reckoned with. Aaron and Jaimie are known for their attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines and their frugal approach which allows them to work within any budget.
In 2018 Adam Myles brought a twisted creative drive and work ethic that is second to none! He is a solid apprentice, a haunteer at the Phantom's FreakShow Haunted House and a part of this family.
Shaun Langille joined our team in 2021 after falling in love with the craft of SPFX during his volunteer work with our haunted house. Shaun has a proven track record for his attention to detail through his top notch carpentry and his ability to problem solve almost anything.
With their combined artistic and professional talents the sky's the limits for this unique group. Take a look through this website to see what we've been up to, or follow us on Facebook or Instagram (icon links above).
NOTE: We have an emotional therapy dog by the name of Kylo. He will most likely be attached to his owners side at our shop and most productions we are involved with.

In 2016 we worked alongside country music singer Kevin Davison and director David Pichette for a music video, "When Those Sirens Are Gone" sponsored by the TEMA Conter Memorial Trust. This video was created to bring awareness to first responders and their internal struggles with PTSD.
Giving Back
Phantom Effects has been involved in many volunteer and charitable events like the Make A Wish Foundation, Crime Prevention and Disaster Relief through the Red Cross, the IWK Foundation and much more. Giving back to our community is very important to us.

MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION - JUSTICE SCORES FOR WISHES 2018
Phantom Effects was contacted by Make A Wish Foundation to add a little extra flare to a special wish for 18 year old Deven. After getting all dolled up we traveled to the city to present the fabulous news to Deven and his family and whisk them away to a hockey tournament fundraiser put on by the Nova Scotia Justice Department. We wish Deven and his family all the best and hope that they enjoy their ultimate zombie experience.
Jay Malone, John Saunders and Phantom Effects came together with a like minded goal to offer a series of 6 FREE-WILL comedic events to the public in an attempt to use laughter and a fun night out to help shine a light on the struggling or in-crisis members of our community. Proceeds from the performances will help us raise money to support youth and youth mental health programs in Annapolis Valley. All proceeds go to the Kentville Rotary Club to be disbursed to a different program each performance.

In 2018 Phantom Effects was contacted by Safeguard Services who was in charge of renovating and breathing new life into the historic Cornwallis Inn. We were contracted for the painting the ceiling with a cloud mural, and to cast and mold several of the intricate trim work in the mezzanine and ballroom that had been damaged over time. We even assisted in helping select the walls complimentary paint choices.

We are not open regular business hours, be sure to contact us if you're coming from out of town. You can find us around back (parking available off Webster Court), look for the Daughter of Our Community mural, and the inlet to the left of the mural. There is a large Phantom Effects sign inside the inlet that points to our door.

TURN YOUR PARTY UP BY HIRING US TO BRING ON THE GHOULS
Phantom Effects now offers our services as professional party crashers! Hire us for your private party or staff party. Our base price is $1000 which gives you 4 Hollywood standard ghouls for 2 hours. We will creep in without notice and scare the tarnations out of your guests, then stick around for photographs and pure entertainment before we return these creatures back into the underworld in which they came. We will require a minimum of 10 hours to prep the 4 monsters. Due to the prep time involved this offer is best suited for a night appearance. If you require something for the day please contact us to discuss options.
MURAL PROJECTS
Murals vary in time and cost. Please reach out to us if you wish to discuss a mural project for the future. Due to the fact that we stay very busy with other projects and events, you will need to be patient and allow for lots of time to develop and complete a piece.
